چکیده

The three-dimensional strongly screened vortex glass model is studied numerically using methods from combinatorial optimization. We focus on the effect of disorder strength on the ground state and find the existence of a disorder-driven normal-to-superconducting phase transition. The transition turns out to be a geometrical phase transition with percolating vortex loops in the ground state configuration. We determine the critical exponents and provide evidence for a new universality class of correlated percolation. (Some figures in this article are in colour only in the electronic version)

Entanglement transition of elastic lines in a strongly disordered environment

– We investigate by exact optimization the geometrical properties of threedimensional elastic line systems with point disorder and hard-core repulsion. The line ’forests’ become entangled due to increasing line wandering as the system height is increased, at fixed line density. There is a transition height at which a cluster of pairwise entangled lines spans the system, transverse to average li...

Search for a vortex loop blowout transition in a type-II superconductor in a finite magnetic field

The three-dimensional uniformly frustrated XY model is simulated to search for a predicted ‘‘vortex loop’’ transition within the vortex line liquid phase of a strongly type-II superconductor in an applied magnetic field. Results are shown to strongly depend on the precise scheme used to trace out vortex line paths. While we find evidence for a transverse vortex path percolation transition, no s...

The inverted XY universality of the superconductivity phase transition

The (3-d) U(1) gauge + Higgs (GinzburgLandau, GL) theory is an effective theory for the superconductor-insulator phase transition. Despite the formal simplicity of the GL theory, and numerous analytical and numerical studies, the universal properties of the transition have not yet been fully resolved. Theoretical duality arguments [1] suggest that the phase transition is in the 3d XY model univ...

Scaling behavior of the directed percolation universality class

In this work we consider five different lattice models which exhibit continuous phase transitions into absorbing states. By measuring certain universal functions, which characterize the steady state as well as the dynamical scaling behavior, we present clear numerical evidence that all models belong to the universality class of directed percolation. Since the considered models are characterized...
